Information

Education is an asset to the neighborhood has it provides many important resources to the people living near. First off, the many schools around provide important education. Secondly, the education system also provides many clubs and after school activities to be involved with. One of the high schools that we visited had a very impressive track and football field, providing chances for exercise and school involvement. The schools are also located within walking distance of many homes, meaning that accessibility is not reliant on motorized transportation. It also provides another important resource for parents as a way to provide daycare so that the parents can work without needing to take care of their children.

When we arrived at Central District, Garfield High School seemed like an important center point of the neighborhood. It's campus includes a performing arts center, a running track with a football field, a playfield, swimming pool, and tennis courts. On a corner of the campus lies the Garfield Community Center. Surprisingly, right across the street lies Nova High School. Not a traditional high school, Nova High School provides an alternative curriculum for students.  Walking to Lecshi Elementary School, we noticed surrounding area is mainly homes, resembling a more suburban side to the city.
