Central District

The Central District is a very convenient and walkable neighborhood. We made our way from the U-district to Garfield High School on public transport with ease, and got to Leschi Park to the east on foot. This was noticeably very easy and accessible to us thanks to the abundance of sidewalks available even in the dense suburbs of the Central District. Trails were available in order to get to the waterfront near Leschi Park and there were many access points to get from the waterfront back west into the suburbs. At one point we were at a random street in the suburban area of CD yet we could access a main street like E Cherry with ease, where many of Central District's businesses are located - this allows convenience for the residents of CD. In the main throughways of the Central District bike paths stood out to me, as there were dedicated ramps that allowed easy navigation onto sidewalks, as well as signages painted on the ground that pointed towards other bike routes.

From these observations, it is clear that the urban planning surrounding the transportation around the Central District is an asset and that the convenience for the residents no matter how they chose to commute was kept at the forefront of the urban planning.
